Financial Literacy/Student Outreach

The Student Outreach Committee focuses on efforts to support the pipeline of future accountants. This is done though speaking engagements with student groups from Elementary School all the way to College. We recently held a virtual info session on all the of the ways to get involved, you can view the recording here.

Resources are provided below for those participating in Career Days, Financial Literacy events and other activities on their own. Feel free to personalize and adapt the PowerPoint presentations to suit your needs.  You can also find a flyer here, that gives tips on interacting and connecting with students. If you’re looking for staff or volunteer support to attend a student focused event, let us know, we are happy to help.

Junior Achievement of Greater Washington

In addition, the society a partners with Junior Achievement and their local JA Finance Parks. These events are based on the JA Curriculum, and having CPAs and other GWSCPA members present provides opportunity to expose kids to the profession as well as teach financial literacy to enthusiastic middle schoolers.  you can join as an individual volunteer or bring a group from your office.
